My Quilting Journey

I have quilters on both sides of my family for many generations and have many memories of watching my mom and grandmas quilt and also going to the “Sewing Circle” at church.

This is my Mom’s 1st quilt, which she made while recovering from having her tonsils removed at 10 years of age. Hand pieced and hand quilted about 70 years ago with some prodding and pushing from her Mom.

My Quilting Journey

This is my 1st quilt which I made in my 20s…why start with an easy block when you can create a challenging feathered star wall hanging?

Kudos to my twenty-something-self that not only pieced it but hand quilted it with my Mom and Grandma Mast. Star patterns were my signature design during the 1990s.

But then I put quilting aside as I became busy with 4 daughters and running a Custom Drapery Business for 19 years, I even donated all of my quilting fabric because I didnt think I would want to quilt again!

Finding My Way Back to Quilting.

Last year I started working at a Quilt Shop and rediscovered the creativity of quilting and learned to longarm quilt and I was hooked again! I will always love and appreciate the beauty and effort of hand quilting but have enjoyed exploring all the new ideas and creativity of piecing and quilting in 2020!

As I was renewing my interest in quilting, we were invited to a wedding and the bride and groom welcomed handmade gifts. So my 1st quilt of this stage of my life was this modern Flying Geese Quilt.

And so started the journey to where I am now, quilting your quilts!
